There’s absolutely no way I would be able to thank the many, MANY “experts” who committed time to the Grade 8 students as they worked on their inquiry projects. It was absolutely amazing. People moved around their schedules, made up for missed appointments, dropped off USB sticks, gave tours, sat for interviews, Skyped and posed for photographs.
Just to give you a quick look into interview process, I’ll recap what I can remember! Some of the students conducted interviews in our school (Thanks so much Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. St. Jean, Ms. Simon!). A few of the students went on local excursions to learn about their projects (thank you Red Lake Goldcorp for two tours and Municipality of Red Lake for 3 interviews and 1 tour of the Red Lake Waste Management Area). We also accessed several environmental resources at the Ministry of Natural Resources (thank you for our many emails and as well for coming to GLC to do interviews in person!). We conducted several Skype sessions (some closer – Kenora, Vancouver, some further away – England, Dubai). One video conference was held and several phone interviews were conducted (thank you OPP, Union Gas and Northwestern Health Unit). We even found one retired teacher who came in for an interview! Can you believe all of these resources and people?
Everyone, absolutely everyone, was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
I would like to thank everyone by name, but I’m sure I’ll accidentally leave someone out. So, just to let you know how incredible it was, I leave you with this fave movie moment, and a heartfelt “Thank You”. You are all awesome!
