As a part of our ongoing character education and development work, the Grade Sevens will take part in a series of workshops focused on social skills and personal safety. Students will have the opportunity to work in small groups and as a whole class to discuss issues that they face on a daily basis. This is an exciting opportunity and I would like to thank KPDSB Student Counsellor, Jen Fletcher, for her assistance in these sessions. If you have any questions, please contact me at school.
In Friday’s session, the students examined the following concepts:
Students learning how to think and talk positively about self and others.
Note similarities and appreciate differences as well as learn to get along and work together.
Treat each other with Kindness and respect.
Give each other support and encouragement.
Respond to bullying in ways that work.
Resolve conflicts appropriately and effectively.
Build empathy and realize that other people have differing opinions and ideas and that this is okay.
